Microbial transformation of zearalenone to a zearalenone sulfate.
The conversion of zearalenone by various microorganisms was studied. A new polar metabolite was formed in addition to alpha- and beta-zearalenols. The structure of the new metabolite was determined as zearalenone-4-O-sulfate conjugate on the basis of enzymatic and acid hydrolysis, followed by mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and infrared spectroscopic analysis. The results obtaine...

Addition of clindamycin to whole-cell cultures of Streptomyces coelicolor MUller resulted in the loss of in vitro activity against organisms sensitive to clindamycin. Incubation of such culture filtrates with alkaline phosphatase generated a biologically active material identified as clindamycin. Fermentation broths containing inactivated clindamycin yielded clindamycin 3-phosphate, the structu...
متن کاملMICROBIAL TRANSFORMATION OF CHOLESTEROL BY MYCOBACTERIUM SMEGMATIS
Mycobacterium smegmatis PTCC 1307 (CIP 73.26) was used as a microbial agent to produce androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione (ADD) and androst-4-ene-3,17-dione, two useful precursors in the synthesis of steroid drugs. The side chain of cholesterol, as the substrate, was selectively cleaved in the presence of five enzyme inhibitors. An intermediate structure with intact side chain, cholest-4-ene-3-one, ...
متن کاملMicrobial transformation of albendazole.
Screening scale studies were performed to biotransform anthelmintic drug albendazole by using twelve bacterial strains representing six genera and five actinomycetes cultures. Among the cultures studied, Bacillus subtilis MTCC 619, Escherichia coli MTCC 118 and Klebsiella pneumoniae MTCC 109 could transform albendazole to one metabolite whereas, Enterobacter aerogenes NCIM 2695, Klebsiella aero...
متن کاملMicrobial Transformation of (-)-Alloisolongifolene
(-)-Alloisolongifolene (1) is a structural analogue of the naturally occurring longifolene. The microbial transformation of (-)-alloisolongifolene (1) by Cunninghamella elegans afforded two new metabolites, 3a-hydroxyalloisolongifolol (2) and 13-hydroxyalloisolongifolol (3). The structures of the metabolites were deduced on the basis of their spectral data, including 1D and 2D NMR, IR and HREIMS.
